With its unions in 1972, 1981 and 2000, the URC has ecumenism rooted at the heart of its very existence. At local, national and international level, the contact and understanding between the wide variety of Christian traditions, representing the diversity of the body of Christ, lies at the heart of our mission.

There is a dynamic relationship between unity and mission. Because we are one in Christ, we are able to work together. The more we work together, the more we witness to our oneness in Christ. The Holy Spirit is still at work in a wide range of creative ecumenical possibilities and partnerships, even though further structural unity now seems much less likely. Here are some of the areas where we see this in action:
