The Lundie Memorial medal and award for October went to seven-year-old Imogen Lydiatt of the Southern Synod for her faithfulness in prayer and worship.
Imogen was nominated by her minister, Revd Memona Shahbaz of the Broadway United Church in Eastbourne, East Sussex, and part of the Southern Synod.
Memona told us more: "Imogen is a very loving and caring girl, who is always willing to help others. She happily attends church regularly and takes an active part in the Sunday Church Service, Sunday School activities and Coffee Morning. She helps the church members to set-up and clean-up the Church Hall after Coffees and Teas. She is a member of Rainbows, and during the Covid-19 Lockdown period she attended their Zoom online meetings.
She is also comfortable and willing to share her faith with others. She is very friendly with the church members and loves talking to them. They really appreciate her wonderful conversations and always encourage her. Her caring nature also extends to the community, and she loves looking after and caring for animals.
In East Team, she also attends activities that are arranged by Messy Church and actively participates in them. During the whole pandemic period, when churches were only open for quiet prayers, Imogen attended every single Sunday. It was very lovely to see her faith in prayer.
All the church members and I wanted to highly recommend her for the Lundie Memorial Medal as she truly deserves it. We at the church level always support Imogen, but it will be even more encouraging for her to know that the URC denomination also recognises and appreciates her."
The panel from the Children's and Youth Work Committee who decide on who should receive the award each month are in total agreement. "This award is well deserved by Imogen and we look forward to hearing how she chooses to spend the £100 for the benefit of children's and youth work in her church or synod. Well done Imogen!"
