They were nominated by their church secretary, Joan Smith, who had this to say about the twosome:

"Alex spoke to the church during a service, making a statement of his faith which included lots of ideas for caring for the world. He told us about many different ways of recycling - new ideas to many. Alice wrote a poem about caring for the world called God's Garden. From their ideas the church has now expressed an interest in working towards becoming an Eco-church. Information is now being gathered by Alex, Alice and other Junior Church members as to how we go about this.

Following on from this, Alex and Alice were invited to speak at a Wessex Synod meeting. Alex spoke and Alice read her poem, hopefully inspiring others to take some of their wisdom back to their own churches.

Their message is particularly pertinent as URC and other faith groups address issues such as caring for the environment and climate change. They have since made a video of themselves reading their items which was included in the URC service for World Environment Day.

Salisbury URC is very proud of these two members of our Junior Church and feel that they have an important message which they have put over in a heartfelt and meaningful way. They have been a catalyst for starting discussion about caring for our world.
