Rupert was nominated by Joyce Billings, the children's leader at Wroxton and Hoveton URC where Rupert is an enthusiastic member of the JAM children's group. This is what Joyce had to say about the part Rupert plays in the mission of God:

"I am nominating Rupert Meechan for his continual support of our annual charity plant sale. He helps by growing and nurturing tomato and vegetable plants for the sale each year.

He produces 100 to 150 plants each year, selling for £1 each.

Most of the funds raised from our plant sale go to our chosen charity; this year the funds will go to Nelson's Journey, a children's bereavement charity. We also raise enough money to support JAM, our children's church group, which has around fifteen members aged four to thirteen."

We envy Rupert his green fingers and can say that he is truly using his gift for growing and nurturing plants to bring pleasure to those who buy them (and eat the produce) and to raise money for some very worthwhile causes. Rupert is a worthy recipient of the Lundie Memorial medal and award and we look forward to sharing the news of his presentation and how he chooses to use the £100 donation to benefit children and young people in his church, synod or community.
