Katie is well known to URC Youth as she is joint immediate past Youth Moderator. Although currently based in London for work, she was nominated by Mick Smeardon, Synod Pilots Officer for the National Synod of Scotland and coincidentally Katie's proud grandfather. This was how he described Katie:

"Katie has been an asset to the church both locally and nationally. She was the longest serving Pilot at Nairn URC working her way through all of the groups from Deckhands to Navigators and eventually helping out in a leadership role until she went to University in Glasgow.

Katie was a participant in the URC Israel/Palestine trip, she has served as Pilots Representative and Synod Youth Representative and is the immediate past Youth Moderator.

She attended Glasgow University where she studied and qualified in Paediatric Cardiac ICU Nursing, going on to work on Great Ormond Street Children's Cardiac ICU wards.

Since the start of the pandemic Katie has volunteered and worked in adult ICU in London working with the sickest of people and is still working on the ICU wards of Londons Hospitals.

Katies dedication to Church and Community is a shining example to young people across the country and I am sure she will continue to be so."

Katie's award was given to her by Youth Ministry Development Worker Matt Baines and current Youth Moderator Reuben Watt.
