Season of Invitation is an annual opportunity encompassing Back to Church Sunday that promotes churches across the UK and overseas to invite people to come with them to church on five “event” Sundays.
Over the past several years Back to Church Sunday, held annually on one Sunday in September, has brought in many new people to church, yet research revealed that people are much more likely to come to church and keep coming if they’re invited several times.
To build on this culture of invitation, churches are encouraged to take part in a Season of Invitation, by inviting people on a series of Sundays including Back to Church Sunday in September, Harvest in October, Remembrance in November, Christmas Starts in early December and Christmas in December.
The Season of Invitation scheme has created resource packs, including service suggestions and invitations, as well as training events for clergy, ministry teams and members to discover the best ways to invite people and practical tools for equipping the church. Contact your synod to find out about training in your area. Go to www.seasonofinvitation.co.uk for more information.
