What we do
The Ministries office maintains the rolls of ministers, CRCWs and lay preachers as well as giving general oversight to their work and the work of elders. Amongst other matters, we deal with the movement and remuneration of ministers, legislation, ministers’ conditions of service, ministerial retirements, ministers from other churches wishing to work for the URC, the filling of special category ministry posts and assessing candidates for ministry.
Nicola supports the work of the ministries committee and its five sub-committees. This work includes maintaining the roll of ministers, CRCWs, and lay preachers as well as giving general oversight to their work and the work of elders. The office deals with procedures regarding the movement of ministers, legislation, the level of stipend, ministers’ conditions of service, ministerial retirements, ministers from other churches wishing to work for the URC, the filling of special category ministry posts and assessing candidates for ministry. Nicola also has a responsibility for URC chaplains and is secretary to the ministries committee.
