John L Bell news bannerDreaming about where to take your summer holiday this year? Why not try the United Reformed Church’s (URC) Holiday Forum?

For one week every summer (22-28 August), people from all denominations come from across the country to worship God, discuss and discover the faith we share around a central theme, relax, and have fun at the Hayes Conference Centre, Swanwick, Derbyshire.

Each morning of the holiday event, themed “What shall we tell the children?”, will encompass all-age worship, a themed talk and workshops which include discussion groups, Bible study, choir, needlework, film and photography. Specific groups will also be held for children of all ages, including a creche.

The Revd John L. Bell, a Church of Scotland minister, hymn writer, broadcaster and speaker who works with the Iona Community’s Wild Goose Resource Group, who is internationally renowned for his work in the areas of worship, music, spirituality and social justice, will lead worship each morning supported by a live band. John introduces the theme in this film.

The Holiday Forum is designed with all the elements of a good summer holiday in mind. Come and discover why people return year after year with their families and friends. There’s lots of optional afternoon activities to choose from such as a game of cricket, crafts, or a trip to a local attraction?

You can also join in one of the competitions that run throughout the week: Scrabble, table tennis, boules and Yahtzee.

There’s lots of fun to be had in the evenings too with the annual pub quiz, variety show, songs of praise and much more!

The cost for the week is detailed below and is per person, based on an ensuite room with full board.
