Would you like to write a prayer for the United Reformed Church’s annual prayer handbook?
The editors are inviting people to write prayers for the 2021 edition, inspired by the theme ‘Conversations’.
Hoping to widen even more the authorship of the prayer handbook, writers from every part of the denomination and beyond are being asked to make submissions.
The editors, Karen Campbell and Ian Fosten, said: “We invite you to listen unhurriedly to the readings for a particular Sunday, but also to be attentive to how the readings resonate with your own life experiences, questions, discoveries and hopes. Having listened to both readings and life, then see how the Spirit can use your thoughtfulness and creativity. As editors we shall be delighted to receive finely worked prayers, but we shall be listening out even more keenly for authentic voices.”
No special words or format are required in order to make a submission, people can simply write as they pray.
A maximum of four prayers may be submitted for consideration. These must be your own, original work and should be previously unpublished.
The deadline for submission is 17 February.
Please read the Guidelines for further information, and, if you have further queries please email.
