The United Reformed Church’s (URC) short film series which explores themes from the book Holy Habits continues with the Holy Habit of Gladness and Generosity.
The short film, directed by the Revd Dr Kevin Snyman, Programme Officer for Global Justice and Partnerships, shows the importance of this habit in shaping the kind of world we want to live in.
Holy Habits author, Andrew Roberts, said: ‘If we live in a world that is mean and me-centred, is ungrateful and moaning all the time, then that just diminishes life. But if we live gladly and generously everybody is blessed.’
In the film, John Samson, the URC’s Chief Finance Officer, explains the values and beliefs of the finance committee.
‘The assets and money of the church don’t belong to us, they belong to God,’ he says.
Linda Mead, the former Programme Coordinator for Commitment for Life (CfL), the URC’s world development programme, goes on to explain how CfL has given churches the opportunity to understand what is happening in other parts of the world.
And the Food is Free project shows how communities are strengthened through gardens, created using salvaged and sustainable resources to, where vegetables are grown and shared.
