Police credit Ehimetalor Akhere UnsplashReligious, faith and belief groups have urged the government to rethink the controversial Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill. 

In a scathing letter, published in the Independent on 26 October, dozens of leaders, including the Revd Clare Downing, Moderator of the United Reformed Church General Assembly, warn of the “chilling effect” the Bill could have on “millions who put their faith or belief into practice” and declare it ‘unacceptable in a democratic society.’

Pray4URCThe Group for Evangelism and Renewal (GEAR) within the URC is hosting another short series of live online prayer meetings in the run up to Assembly Executive (the new name for Mission Council) which is taking place at High Leigh Conference Centre, Hoddesdon, from 22-24 November.

Pray4URC will run on Thursday evenings at 8.15pm for four weeks, starting on 28 October.

The United Reformed Church is helping to promote Charity Fraud Awareness Week, an award-winning campaign run by a partnership of charities, regulators, law enforcers, representative and umbrella bodies, and other not-for-profit stakeholders from across the world.

The purpose of the week is to raise awareness about fraud and cybercrime and to create a safe space for charities and their supporters and members to talk about fraud and to share good practice.
