Gosport School Pastors, represented by Karen Tweed and Andy Williams, were awarded the Community Impact Award at the Hampshire Education Awards celebration held in October 2021, having been nominated by members of the Senior Management Team of Gosport & Fareham Multi School Academy Trust in recognition of the role they play at Brune Park and Bay House schools.
This award is an acknowledgement of the positive impact that School Pastors have made in both schools since that very first pilot scheme was launched in Brune Park School in 2014.
Karen described her feelings on receiving the award: "I was honoured to receive it as the current coordinator on behalf of all School Pastor team members, prayer supporters, management team members and financial supporters over the past seven years, and was humbled to receive it as recognition of the years of fundamental support and dedication that have been given.
"From those early gate duties, the small group work, and supporting students who were out of lessons, the games of table tennis and Dobble and conversations with students and staff, to the challenges of the pandemic, online communications, delivering food hampers, lateral flow tests and navigating “bubbles” in order to re-establish face to face contact."
School pastors and all who go into schools to share in collective worship, to support pupils and staff, to run prayer spaces, to contribute to RE lessons - these people bring the love of Christ to so many children, young people and adults. We congratulate the Gosport School Pastors on their well-deserved award.
